Learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of personal hygiene in relation to food hygiene
- Understand the “danger zone” in relation to temperature of food
- Demonstrate an awareness of health and safety measures required in relation to food storage
- Demonstrate knowledge of employers and employees responsibilities
- Demonstrate correct hand washing procedures
- Identify ways of reducing the risk of cross contamination
Introduction to Health and Safety
Learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate awareness of the five steps to Risk Assessment
- Complete accident/incident report
- Understand the importance of inspections
- Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the need for management of health and safety in the workplace
- Demonstrate understanding of what is meant by RIDDOR and how it needs to be implemented
- Explain and identify hazardous substances in the care environment for COSHH requlations.
Introduction to Moving and Handling – Loads
Learner will be able to understand:
- What is manual handling, or moving and handling?
- Legislation
- Employers’ and employees’ responsibilities
- Risk assessment
- Structure and function of the spine.
- The importance of good posture and movement
- Safer moving and handling techniques
- Moving and handling tasks
- Using equipment where appropriate
- Practical problem solving
Introduction to Adult Protection (POVA)
The aim of the training is to raise awareness of abuse

- What is abuse?
- Minimising the risk from abuse
- Responding to abuse
- Roles and responsibilities
